Why Did You Have to Mess with the Turtle? He's Just a Schemer

Six hundred and sixty-six years after the death of the third Demon Emperor, Xu Chen transmigrates into the demon realm—reborn as a newborn turtle of the Xuan Gu (Black Tortoise) clan. His great-grandmother warns him that the Xuan Gu live for eons, and if he makes too many friends, he will have to watch each of them wither and die. The thought fills him with sorrow—until he flips the logic. Instead of forging bonds, he decides to turn friends into enemies and collect as many grudges as possible. That way, when he grows old, every enemy's funeral will be a cause for celebration. And so, word spreads across the demon realm: the Xuan Gu clan now has a hot-headed little turtle who picks a fight at the slightest provocation. The white dragon—once notorious for stirring storms and terrorizing mortals—now dares not even step outside his door. The colorful little peacock, who used to break countless demon maidens' hearts with his flirtations, retreats into seclusion. Even the little phoenix, fearless and fond of burning everything in sight, gets beaten into hiding. The entire demon realm finds its order reborn. Then one day, a young girl arrives at the North Sea Palace, claiming to repay a debt of gratitude. Xu Chen turns her down flat: "I don't date short-lived demons." She smiles and reveals her true identity. Suddenly, the idea of having a companion to attend his archenemies' funerals doesn't sound so bad after all.
