Yachiru-san wa Homeru to Nobiru

Yachiru, a Hasshakusama youkai, has taken up residence among humans, but her existence has been quietly undermined by a bizarre modern twist. The public no longer fears her species—instead, they view them through a lens of salacious comedy rather than genuine terror. This humiliating misconception has sapped her supernatural vitality, causing her once-imposing stature of eight shaku (roughly 240 centimeters) to dwindle to a modest 190 centimeters. Despite her earnest daily attempts to project menace and restore the fearsome reputation of her kind, every effort ends in failure, leaving her frustrated and stuck in a diminished form. Desperate for inspiration, Yachiru visits a cinema to study the mechanics of on-screen horror. There, she crosses paths with Seiichirou, an earnest young man who harbors an unabashed and profound adoration for Hasshakusama. As their conversation unfolds, Yachiru stumbles upon an astonishing revelation: whenever Seiichirou offers her genuine praise, her height temporarily surges back to its full, magnificent eight shaku. This unexpected quirk ignites a fragile new hope—yet it also ties her recovery to another person's perception. Now, she must navigate the delicate challenge of earning his compliments while striving to reshape the world’s view of her kind, all without losing sight of the creature she was meant to be.
