Joining Tiandao Company: Starting by mending a zombie world

Chu Sheng is the embodiment of the overworked 996 salaryman—until the day he finally snaps, floors his boss with a single punch, and walks straight out of his old life. Jobless yet strangely liberated, he is abruptly recruited by Tiandao Company, which offers a probationary salary of twelve thousand yuan and an unconventional perk: a fully immersive "time-travel" experience. Believing he has landed a cushy gig, Chu Sheng expects nothing more than a clichéd beginner's trial—apprentice himself to the famed Taoist master Mao Xiaofang, complete seven routine tasks, pocket his pay, and coast toward an easy, prosperous future. That naive fantasy crumbles when he bears witness to the brutal massacre of his compatriots and sees the very land of his homeland drenched in blood. The fury that ignites within him cannot be extinguished, and he commits himself fully to the path of a true exorcist. As Mao Xiaofang's disciple, he learns to wield glutinous rice against the ravenous undead and peach wood to banish malevolent spirits. His trials escalate swiftly from confronting a vengeful scholar ghost in a desolate mass grave to dismantling the sinister Ghost Mother Formation hidden within an ancient royal palace. When a guerrilla fighter entrusts him with a life-or-death mission, and he must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his master against fearsome evil cultivators emerging from the East, Chu Sheng's journey becomes far more than a paycheck chase. Endowed with the Northern Emperor's sacred legacy and a mysterious system that fuels his rapid ascent, Chu Sheng evolves from a disillusioned office worker into a formidable guardian of the living. Amidst the roaring flames of a world under siege, he forges a legend that redefines what it means to be a time-traveling Taoist—where duty burns brighter than any salary, and the only way forward is through the heart of the inferno.
