Wagaya wa Kakuriyo no Kashi Honya-san

Since the age of three, Kaori has called a peculiar bookstore her home—a place where the veil between the mortal world and the spirit realm grows dangerously thin. Raised within these enchanted shelves by her adoptive father, a spirit himself, she has grown accustomed to the quiet strangeness of a life shared with beings most humans cannot perceive. For her, this liminal space is not a source of fear, but the only world she has ever truly known. That fragile peace shatters when Kaori discovers a wounded young man collapsed among the stacks, bleeding and disoriented. Much like her younger self, he has inadvertently crossed the boundary into the spirit realm—but unlike her, he is no lost wanderer. He is an exorcist, hardened by tragedy and sworn to destroy every spirit he encounters. Bound by his vendetta, he sees Kaori’s home as a nest of enemies, and her father as a target. Yet Kaori, despite knowing the danger he poses to everything she loves, cannot turn away someone in need. Torn between her loyalty to her spirit family and an innate compassion that refuses to be silenced, she makes a perilous choice: to trust the very man who has vowed to annihilate her kind, and guide him back to the world he belongs to—before his hatred consumes them both.
