Journey to the West: I, Sun Wukong, Am the Demon Ape and Refuse the Western Pilgrimage

Sun Wukong has seen through the game of the heavens. He knows that the path to the West is nothing but a gilded cage—a scheme crafted by the Buddhist and Daoist powers to leash his spirit and bury his nature beneath the robes of a disciple. This time, he refuses the summons. He rejects the cassock, the fillet, and the pilgrim's staff. He will not be a pawn in their cosmic chessboard, nor a weapon tempered by their doctrines. He chooses instead to embrace the very identity they brand him with: the demon ape. He chooses freedom. And to claim it, he must do what no immortal or Buddha dares—overturn the board entirely, shatter the ordained fate, and become the sole master of his own sky.
