The Overly Loyal NPC

Lin Qi transmigrates into a game world as an NPC mercenary named Qing Sun. When he opens his exclusive NPC panel, he finds only one stat: Loyalty. Loyalty points can be exchanged for attributes, skills, talents, and more—all waiting to be unlocked, provided he demonstrates his devotion to the Empire. After completing a D-rank imperial mission, he gains a meager +0.5 Loyalty. He exchanges his points for the skill "100,000 Volts," which proves devastatingly effective against aquatic mutants. When others mock him for his blind devotion, calling him the Empire's dog, he puts them in their place—and earns another +0.5 Loyalty for his efforts. Through relentless perseverance, Lin Qi finally defeats the great octopus monster, altering the tragic fate that once awaited him. He begins to see the immense potential in his loyalty mechanic. If proving his allegiance to the Empire keeps increasing his points, why not aim for the ultimate goal—becoming the Emperor himself? Then he could lie back and accumulate Loyalty effortlessly while stacking his stats. But the system has other ideas: At first, he only wants to protect those around him, grinding stats and building his influence step by step. Yet as he digs deeper into the world's truths, he finds himself surrounded by lurking perils and unseen enemies watching from the shadows. When the fog finally begins to clear, Lin Qi realizes that both this world and that convenient panel of his harbor more than a few troubling secrets.
