Alice of the Steam Nation

The goddess created the world in six days, and on the seventh, she entrusted the fourteen sovereign rights—the very laws that govern all existence—to fourteen maidens. Thus, they came to be known as the Maiden Sovereignties. On October 25, 1855, in Linwell City of the Great Britannia Kingdom, a young man named Ling finds a mysterious girl who falls from the sky—Alice, a visitor from another world. This chance encounter sets him on a journey that will entwine his fate with the Maiden Sovereignties one by one. If the world follows only cold, immutable laws, then it is far too dull a place. Let us instead pursue the inexplicable, and shape wonders beyond reason. For instance, in some distant, forgotten age, these innocent and kind-hearted maidens once ruled as sovereigns of fairy-tale realms, listened as deities to the wishes of mortals, and embodied all the mystery and majesty of the arcane.
