Alps no Shoujo Heidi

This manga brings Johanna Spyri's celebrated novel Heidi to life through the artwork of Yumiko Igarashi, translating one of literature's most enduring stories into the visual language of Japanese comics. At its heart is the story of a young girl whose life unfolds in the care of her grandfather, high among the mountains of the Swiss Alps. Far removed from the bustle of towns, her days follow the rhythms of alpine life—sweeping green pastures, towering peaks, and the quiet companionship of the elderly man entrusted with her upbringing. Within this remote and breathtaking setting, the bond between grandfather and granddaughter takes center stage: a relationship defined by simplicity, warmth, and the enduring beauty of the natural world that surrounds them. Igarashi's adaptation honors the gentle spirit of Spyri's original work while giving it fresh artistic expression, inviting readers to experience this treasured tale of an alpine childhood through vivid illustration and heartfelt storytelling.
