Sora wo Matotte

Namiji Ogawa is a high school student driven by an all-consuming artistic obsession. Alone in his room, he devotes every spare hour to teaching himself the demanding techniques of oil painting, his brushes guided by a singular, unwavering vision: to capture the definitive nude—a form so pure and transcendent that it would stand as the ultimate expression of his craft. His self-imposed curriculum is relentless, a solitary pilgrimage through pigments and canvases, fueled by a passion that sets him apart from his peers and consumes his waking thoughts. That quiet, disciplined existence takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with a mysterious figure referred to only as a "witch." This fateful encounter recalibrates his ambitions, shifting his focus from a private, abstract ideal to a concrete and daunting milestone: the entrance examination for Tokyo University of the Arts. Suddenly, his deeply personal quest must be forged into a public trial of skill, pitting his raw, self-taught abilities against the formidable standards of Japan's most prestigious art institution. With the witch's enigmatic influence lingering in the background, Namiji now faces the ultimate test—can a high schooler's solitary dream survive the relentless demands of formal mastery, or will the weight of that impossible goal prove too heavy to bear?
