NIRAIKANAI

In the sun-scorched, spiritually charged islands of Okinawa—a mystical frontier standing as Japan’s last bulwark against malevolent deities and underworld fiends—an extraordinary partnership takes shape. Sumeragi Hotsuma, though robbed of sight, wields the fearsome authority of the "Sound Master." With nothing more than the resonant chime of a ring in his hand, he can unravel and annihilate the very essence of Japanese demons that dare draw near. At his side is Hiragi Ranku, a high school student whose unassuming youth belies her terrifying mastery of Sappo, the deadliest of martial arts, and a tenacity that compels her to meet any foe with only her unarmed hands. Their mission seems straightforward—until they discover that their true enemies are not beasts, but gods. As they navigate Okinawa’s ancient groves and sacred shores, their battle spirals into a surreal odyssey that interweaves the island’s shadowed history, folklore from across the globe, and cataclysmic world events with startling, visceral clarity. This is a realm where myth bleeds into reality, and at its core lies the title’s namesake—*Nirai Kanai*, the Okinawan word for "Paradise," a fabled island where the dead are said to find their final rest. Yet peace remains elusive, and restless souls wander without purpose. Now, Hotsuma and Ranku must shoulder the burden of saving all of Japan while confronting the deeper question that haunts their every step: can they truly guide these lost spirits to their eternal sanctuary, or will the gods themselves ensure that paradise remains forever out of reach?
