Ano Hi no Kimi wo Dakishimeta nara

At graduation, Hidetoshi confessed to his best friend Kengo that he was gay. Kengo answered without hesitation that they would always remain friends no matter what, and Hidetoshi resolved to preserve that promise. For him, the safest path was to keep their relationship exactly as it was, never pushing beyond the friendship Kengo had offered. Kengo, however, realized that Hidetoshi probably wanted to confess to him. Yet he kept his mouth shut, afraid that speaking aloud would ruin the bond they shared. So the two maintain a fragile balance, with words left unsaid and feelings carefully avoided. That balance is shattered when Hidetoshi becomes involved with an abusive boyfriend. Forced to watch someone he cares for suffer, Kengo can no longer simply stand by. The friendship he promised to protect now demands action, but stepping in means confronting the unspoken truth between them. Kengo must decide how far he will go to help Hidetoshi without destroying the very relationship he fears losing.
