Appetite

Do-Hoon struggles to find anything worth living for. When he begins at a new high school, he holds onto the hope of a clean slate, yet nothing changes. His limp marks him as an easy target, and the bullies who mock him leave him with no one he could call a friend. Each day passes in the same heavy silence of isolation and quiet despair. Then, one night, his life takes an unexpected turn. Do-Hoon crosses paths with A-Ji, a classmate, and witnesses a secret never meant for his eyes. What follows is a bargain struck between the two: for the time being, A-Ji will keep him safe, but once Do-Hoon turns twenty, the debt must be repaid. Bound by this mysterious pact, Do-Hoon finally gains a protector in a world that has shown him only cruelty—yet with that protection comes a looming obligation. As his twentieth birthday draws nearer, the question of what he will truly have to pay becomes impossible to ignore.
