Summertime Render 2026: Mizen Jikobukken

Novelist Ryunosuke Nagumo finds herself navigating the treacherous Tokyo real estate market, accompanied by her niece, who has just secured her place at the prestigious Tokyo University. Their search for affordable housing leads them to a seemingly perfect opportunity: a spacious apartment listed at an impossibly low price. The rental is almost too good to be true—a bargain that immediately raises red flags for the seasoned writer, whose instincts for narrative and the unexplained are finely tuned. As they step inside the vacant rooms, an unsettling chill permeates the air, and strange occurrences begin to unravel around them, confirming their worst fears that they are not alone. This atmospheric spin-off ventures into the future of the world established in *Summertime Rendering*, delivering a self-contained tale of suspense where the haunting of an ordinary space collides with the characters' desperate attempts to uncover the truth. The boundary between the living and the dead blurs as Ryunosuke and her niece find themselves entangled in a mystery far deeper than a simple ghost story. What begins as a practical housing dilemma descends into a gripping battle for their sanity and survival, forcing them to confront the building's dark history and the sinister forces that have made it their home.
