Skip and Loafer

Iwakura Mitsumi’s ambitions have always been clear and unwavering. Growing up in a quiet rural town, she poured every ounce of her energy into her studies, driven by a singular dream: to enroll in an elite university and, from there, become an agent of meaningful change in the world. Yet in her single-minded pursuit of that distant future, Mitsumi completely overlooked the immediate reality that awaited her. Stepping into the bustling, chaotic sprawl of Tokyo for the first time, she finds herself utterly unmoored. The dizzying pace of city life, the unspoken social nuances of her new high school, and the sheer scale of everything around her threaten to overwhelm the focused young woman who was so sure of her path. Fortunately, amidst the disorienting noise of the metropolis, Mitsumi encounters a source of unexpected calm in her classmate Shima Sousuke. Where she is rigid, studious, and perpetually prepared, Sousuke is effortlessly easygoing, a boy who seems to navigate the complexities of Tokyo with a natural, unforced grace. Their immediate, unlikely friendship becomes her anchor, offering both practical guidance and a much-needed emotional respite. As Mitsumi grapples with the gulf between her rural upbringing and the relentless demands of her new environment, she must learn that achieving her grand ambitions requires not just academic prowess, but also the ability to adapt, to connect, and to trust in the people who stand beside her.
