History’s Mentalist

In a world reshaped by the coronavirus pandemic, graduate student Sakutaro watches everything around him transform—everything, that is, except himself. As society rebuilds and the people in his life move forward, he remains frozen in place, a bystander to his own unchanging existence. His stagnant routine is abruptly overturned when an emissary of Buddha appears and appoints him as "History's Mentalist." Suddenly thrust into encounters with history's most celebrated figures, Sakutaro is taken aback to discover that these legendary icons are far from perfect, each harboring surprising flaws and failings of their own. Yet as he witnesses these great minds confront their weaknesses and pursue their ambitions with unwavering earnestness, Sakutaro finds himself prompted to reexamine his own life in a new light. Caught between the trials of the past and the struggles of the present, can he weather the challenges of both eras—and perhaps finally carve out a path of his own?
