Love Thy Neighbor

Doyeon hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in weeks, and her elusive neighbor is the reason why. It isn’t just the relentless pounding of loan sharks on the adjoining apartment door—it’s the sound of sobbing that follows, seeping through the walls and keeping her awake. Though every instinct tells her to keep her distance, Doyeon finds herself consumed by lingering curiosity about the lonely woman who cries herself to sleep each night. That all changes when the debt collectors threaten to break the door down. In a panic, an older woman bursts out of the unit, and Doyeon impulsively pulls her into her own apartment to hide. The saying goes, “Love thy neighbor,” but no one ever warned her that compassion would carry such a heavy cost.
