Asuka Miyamoto was working as an insurance agent in Tokyo when her grandfather, Shigeru, alerted her to troubling developments at their family shrine. Her brother Souichi, who had taken over its management, had suddenly disappeared, and a dubious real-estate agent was now scheming to take possession of the property. With the support of Juuzou—her grandfather's former disciple—she began exploring ways to fight back and soon uncovered the existence of a strange, local ritual called the "Killing of the Phoenix." Agreeing to step in as chief priest herself, she commits to breathing new life into her declining hometown and shrine by resurrecting that very festival.
