Seventeen

At seventeen, the weight of existence presses down with suffocating intensity. For one young man, life has become an unrelenting haze of anguish, each day bleeding into the next without purpose or relief. Trapped in the relentless grip of existential despair, he wanders through his days consumed by a pain that feels both nameless and absolute—a malady of the spirit that has long since robbed him of any hope for tomorrow. But a single, bewildering encounter shatters the monotony of his suffering. Confronted by the ghosts of his own past—the younger versions of himself he had long buried under years of disappointment and regret—he is forced to face the person he used to be. Together, these fractured iterations of his own identity embark on an introspective odyssey, a desperate search for meaning amidst the ruins of their shared history. Their journey is fraught with the echoes of old wounds and the bitter taste of memories best forgotten, yet they press forward with a singular, fragile ambition. As they navigate the labyrinth of their collective heartache, the goal becomes clear: to transcend the scars that have defined them. They seek not just survival, but a true rebirth—a chance to shed the layers of sorrow and finally learn the forgotten art of living. What emerges is a poignant meditation on resilience and self-acceptance, a story of one soul wrestling with its many selves in the hope of emerging whole.
