Void: No. Nine

Three centuries have passed since divine judgment scorched the world and shattered the old order. What remains of humanity cowers in subterranean warrens, a labyrinth of tunnel-cities burrowed deep beneath the ravaged crust. Above, the surface lies eternally blighted, haunted by the Emissaries—soulless remnants of a celestial army that once waged war against mankind, now left to patrol the radioactive wastes. For the majority of survivors, existence is a quiet, fearful routine within the dimly lit corridors, an endurance of cramped quarters and meager rations. Yet the depths breed both desperation and defiance. A restless few—scavengers driven by necessity or a reckless hunger for meaning—voluntarily ascend into the dead zone. They pick through the skeletal ruins of the former world, unearthing forgotten technology, lost keepsakes, and fragments of a history their people barely remember. Each expedition is a gamble against the lethal environment and the ever-present threat of the Emissaries, whose silent vigilance ensures no intruder goes unnoticed. For these brave or foolish souls, the relics they recover are more than salvage; they are lifelines for their communities, and perhaps, keys to understanding why their god turned against them. But survival underground depends on the spoils of the surface, and every trip deeper into the wasteland edges them closer to the divine judgment that still lingers.
