Kyokkei Exit

Kasuga Atsu sits on death row, condemned for the murders of six people with execution looming over him. Instead of a swift end, however, he receives a startling proposition from the government: a pardon for his crimes, granted on one condition—an extraordinary challenge. The terms are as simple as they are cruel. Within a strictly allotted period of time, Atsu must track down and capture a certain number of wanted criminals. Success will buy his freedom; failure will cost him everything, reducing him to little more than a virtual slave of the state. With no genuine alternative, Atsu is forced to hunt down criminals much like himself. Overseeing his progress is Kirishina, his government-appointed supervisor. Cheerful and affable on the surface, Kirishina conceals a shrewd, calculating mind behind that friendly demeanor—along with more than a few suspicions. Something about Atsu doesn't quite add up, and Kirishina privately wonders whether the condemned man possesses a special ability of his own.
