Kanreki Hime

Nestled behind the unassuming walls of a share house, six men live out their days side by side, each one steadily approaching the milestone of sixty. None of them ended up here by chance. Somewhere along the way, each quietly loosened his grip on the life he once imagined—letting ambition fade and the future shrink into the comfortable routine of the present. Day after day unfolds in an atmosphere of gentle inertia, where expectations are few and tomorrow demands nothing. To a casual observer, the arrangement might resemble a refuge: a "utopia" where men worn down by their circumstances can drift together in peaceful stagnation, untouched by a world that seems to have moved on without them. Yet this fragile calm is not built to last. An event beyond anything the residents could possibly imagine is poised to descend upon their sheltered existence—one that promises to shatter the quiet resignation they have settled into and force every man under that roof to confront what he thought he had abandoned for good.
