Kirakira Kaoru

When Sagiri took her own life, she was denied the heaven she might otherwise have entered. Instead, she found herself bound to the world of the dead, where she now serves as an escort for the souls of the departed, guiding them on their final journey through a realm shrouded in eternal twilight. It was along the river that winds through this shadowy afterlife that Sagiri first encountered Hisagi, a soul making his own crossing. Amid the stillness and quiet sorrow of the world of the dead, the two formed a connection neither had expected, and before parting ways, they made each other a solemn vow: that they would find one another again and, in their next lives, finally live happily together. Yet promises made across the boundary of death are not easily kept. As Hisagi moves on toward reincarnation and Sagiri remains tethered to her duty among the departed, the vow that once gave them hope now hangs in uncertainty. Can two souls divided by the river of the afterlife truly reunite — and can their promise of happiness endure the long journey through death itself?
