The Yokai Caretaker

In the unassuming corners of a world that brushes against the supernatural, Toritsuki Hiyori finds herself tending to an extraordinary garden—one that serves as a sanctuary for wayward yokai. Far from a typical botanical plot, this verdant haven is a nursery for spirits and creatures of Japanese folklore, each with their own peculiar needs and tempers. Under the stern yet knowledgeable eye of Mutsu Goro, a seasoned yokai physician, Hiyori is thrust into the delicate and often chaotic art of yokai husbandry. Her new role demands more than simple feeding and grooming; it requires patience, empathy, and a keen understanding of beings that defy human logic. From mischievous pranksters to melancholic phantoms, every resident of the garden presents a unique challenge that tests her resolve. As she navigates this hidden world of mystical ailments and ancient customs, guided by Goro's cryptic wisdom, Hiyori begins to uncover that raising yokai is not merely a job—it is a profound responsibility with stakes far greater than she ever imagined. The question hanging over her daily struggles is whether she possesses the true calling to nurture these otherworldly charges, or if her ordinary human nature will ultimately hinder the fragile balance of the garden she now calls home.
