Volcano High Prelude

With the collapse of order across the academies, teachers have lost all authority over their students. Into this chaos steps Jang Oh-ja, a new instructor arriving at Volcano High. His appointment as principal immediately earns the enmity of Jang Hak-sa, but Oh-ja brings with him a far more dangerous legend—he is rumored to possess the Teachers Memorandum, a fabled artifact said to grant its bearer the title of Number One among all martial arts schools. News of the Memorandum spreads quickly through the student body, igniting a ruthless scramble for the top position. Amid this turmoil, a faction of renegade teachers attempts to harness the power of Lightning and Thunder to bestow abilities upon a chosen subject. Their ritual goes catastrophically wrong, however, and the divine strike misses its target, instead engulfing a young boy named Kim Kyung-soo. Believing he cannot possibly survive, the teachers warn Kyung-soo's father that if the child does live, he must never set foot in a school—lest the envy and hatred of others consume him. Years pass, and Kyung-soo not only survives but emerges with the very powers the teachers tried to create. Now aware of his existence and fearing the consequences, they conspire to have him expelled. Framed and left with no other options, Kyung-soo is forced to transfer to the only institution that will still take him—Volcano High.
