Umi has always known he was different—and not in a way the world would ever accept. Born with a jet-black right eye and an ugly birthmark sprawling across the right side of his body, he carries the mark of a mermaid's curse. Even his own parents recoiled from his appearance, their revulsion carving wounds deeper than any physical flaw. To survive, Umi became a tattoo artist, transforming his cursed skin into a canvas of exquisite art. With each carefully etched design, he buried the monster they saw beneath layers of beauty, hiding himself from a world that had already judged him unworthy. For years, his life remained a quiet prison of ink and solitude—until a chance encounter with a swindling spirit medium shattered the careful walls he had built. This meeting forces him to confront not only the truth of his curse, but also the possibility that someone might see beyond it. What unfolds is a once-in-a-lifetime love story for a young man long accustomed to being called a monster—a tale of rejection, redemption, and the fragile hope that even the most cursed among us might still be worthy of tenderness.
