Betsushiki

Set in the Edo period, *Betsushiki* is an anachronistic girls' comedy manga whose world mingles samurai-era tradition with distinctly modern trappings. At its center stands Rui Sasaki, a betsushiki—a female weapon master entrusted with training the women of the feudal lord's harem in the ways of combat. Formidable as she is, Rui nurses a very ordinary longing: to find herself a husband. Yet her standards make the search anything but simple, for she dreams of a man who can gracefully accept being weaker than she is—so long as he is handsome enough to set her heart aflutter. Along the way, Rui crosses paths with fellow betsushiki, each boasting a personality entirely her own. She listens to their stories of married life, ventures out to mixers, and even makes her way to Comiket, sharing in both laughter and heartfelt farewells along the journey.
