Shihyakushiki

In Japan's Edo period, a sinister menace stalked the land: an ogre that wielded swarms of insects to possess human hosts and steal their lives. Dispatched by a god to destroy these demons, the hero Momotaro waged a tireless campaign of extermination alongside his three loyal retainers. But their crusade met its match when they confronted an ogre of overwhelming power—one fierce enough to wipe out Momotaro and his companions entirely. Recognizing that victory lay beyond his current strength, Momotaro made a fateful choice: to sink into a deep, ages-long slumber and patiently build up the might needed to destroy the ogres for good. As he slept, centuries slipped away, and the world above him transformed beyond all recognition. When he finally opens his eyes, it is the year 2025—and the hero's long-awaited return comes with an unthinkable twist: the legendary demon slayer has been reborn as a tiny chick! Now the fabled warrior of old must somehow carry out his divine mission in the modern era... despite wearing the body of a fluffy baby bird.
