Monster Guild: The Dark Lord’s (No-Good) Comeback!

For the Dark Lord, victory has always been a moving target: no matter how decisively he crushes the forces of good, his heroic nemesis simply refuses to stay dead. Trapped in an endless cycle of battle against an adversary who returns to life time and again, the Dark Lord finally suffers the one fate he cannot overcome—total defeat at the hero's hands. His reign of terror appears to be over for good. Yet death proves to be only a temporary setback. In a final act of self-preservation, the Dark Lord pours his soul into an empty vessel, snatching himself back from oblivion at the last possible moment. Though the form he now inhabits is frail and a pale shadow of his former might, his ambitions burn as fiercely as ever. Rebuilding an empire of darkness is no small feat for a weakened overlord, but he will not be doing it alone. At his side stands a fellowship of misfits—a slime, an orc, an ifrit, and a dark elf—each as unconventional as the next. Together, this unlikely band sets out to restore the Dark Lord's lost dominion, stumbling one comical step at a time toward the revival of his evil empire.
