Honkiki no Spica

In the Free City of Tablo—a place celebrated as the "Book Paradise"—an elf girl named Spica arrives with a single wish: to train as an apprentice under Rezack, a young and gifted bookbinder. Her request is dismissed on the spot, however, for Spica harbors a surprising shortcoming—she cannot read. Yet what seems like the end of her path proves to be only the beginning, as Rezack finds himself irresistibly drawn to the girl and her extraordinary gift: the power to hear the voices of books themselves. Captivated by this mysterious talent—and by Spica's enigmatic charm—Rezack relents and welcomes her into his workshop. He may possess superb craftsmanship, but he is hopelessly awkward with people; Spica, by contrast, brings a rich sensitivity and a fresh, original eye to the art of bookmaking. Side by side, this unlikely pair throws themselves into reviving their struggling workshop. Through one task and one encounter after another, they meet all manner of people and gradually awaken to just how vast and wondrous the world woven around books truly is.
