An Outsider’s Way In

Gyeon-U steps onto campus as a typical freshman, but the weight of isolation clings to him from the very first day. While his peers drift into easy circles of laughter and shared schedules, he finds himself perpetually on the outside—eating alone, walking empty hallways, and watching conversations unfold from a distance. The silence of his phone and the emptiness of his weekends become a familiar, if unwelcome, routine. Desperate for a change, he takes a leap and signs up for a university club—a small, close-knit group that, as it turns out, consists of just three other female students. What begins as an awkward attempt to break his solitude quickly becomes something far more uncertain. Thrown into the daily dynamics of this tight trio, Gyeon-U must navigate not only his own social anxieties but also the unspoken rhythms and quirks of his new peers. Each meeting brings fresh challenges—misread cues, hesitant conversations, and the persistent fear of being an intruder in a space that already has its own harmony. Yet amid the discomfort, there are glimmers of connection that keep him coming back. As the semester unfolds, he finds himself caught between the loneliness he knows and the fragile possibility of belonging, all while wondering if this odd arrangement will finally open a door—or shut him out for good.
