Hierarchy

In the frozen peaks of the northern mountains, a rigid hierarchy once governed all who dwelt there. At its apex stood the Imae, beings of immense and undeniable power. Their chieftain, in a rare gesture that was less generosity than calculation, chose to extend a fragment of that strength to the lowliest denizens of the range—the Foxes. A blood pact was sealed, an ancient covenant that promised prosperity to both parties, yet its terms were carved in favor of the Imae. The bond was unequal by design, and the Foxes, relegated to a perpetual state of subservience, soon understood that they had traded one form of vulnerability for another. Faced with an impossible bargain, the Foxes made a desperate choice: they abandoned their ancestral home, scattering into the shadows of the world to live in secrecy. For generations, they have remained hidden, surviving by one cardinal rule—never, under any circumstances, reveal their powers before an Imae. For the protagonist, this doctrine has been the bedrock of survival, a simple equation that has kept the fragile peace intact. As long as the mask stays on and the abilities remain dormant, life continues in quiet, careful obscurity. But that fragile equation is about to be violently disrupted. When the past comes calling and the line between concealment and exposure blurs, the protagonist is thrust into a confrontation that makes the old blood pact feel less like history and more like a death sentence. Because now, the one thing that was never supposed to happen... has happened.
