Once every three hundred years, the heavens deliver a spectacle known as the Apple Moon—a celestial phenomenon so rare that witnessing it even once is the chance of a lifetime. When the long-awaited day finally arrives, Sakuma makes his way to the ocean alongside his classmate, hoping to take in the once-in-an-era display from the water's edge. The seaside should be the perfect stage for such a historic event: open water stretching toward the horizon, and above it, a moon unlike any seen for generations. But what was meant to be a quiet evening of observation takes an unforeseen turn. Instead of the marvel he came to see, Sakuma finds himself face to face with a parasitic alien—an encounter no ordinary stargazing trip could have prepared him for.
