Yato is a god without a home, a shrine, or even a single devoted follower. Adrift in the modern world, he exists as a nameless deity on the fringes of society, scraping by with no divine status to speak of. Yet beneath his easygoing and slightly reckless demeanor lies a burning ambition: to ascend from obscurity and claim the lavish temple he believes he deserves. To turn this grand dream into reality, he knows he must first make a name for himself, one small good deed at a time. With no divine reputation to attract worshippers, Yato has taken an unconventional approach to godhood—he runs a odd-jobs service for humans. For a mere five-yen fee, he offers his services to anyone in need, regardless of how mundane or troublesome the task might be. Whether it is tracking down a runaway pet, exorcising a minor spirit, or standing up to schoolyard bullies on behalf of a helpless student, Yato accepts every request with a cheerful grin. His reasoning is simple: every satisfied customer is a potential believer, and every believer brings him one step closer to the magnificent shrine he craves. However, this scrappy god's path is far more treacherous than he lets on. Haunted by a violent past and burdened by the very nature of his existence, Yato's desperate hustle for recognition is not merely a quest for luxury—it is a struggle for survival. As he drifts through the mortal realm with his makeshift weapon and growing circle of acquaintances, he discovers that earning a place in the hearts of humans may be the most difficult and dangerous battle of all.
