Wallaby

After an accident claims the life of student Akira Warabi, his story is far from over. His guardian angel, the unusually named Rarirarurara, intervenes at the moment of death—but rather than guiding the boy's soul to the great beyond, the angel seals it inside a plush wallaby toy. The st￭ animal is no arbitrary vessel: it was crafted by Warabi's classmate, Kokoro Kokosa, as a heartfelt memorial to her departed friend. Through this improbable arrangement, Warabi is granted a strange second existence of sorts. Kokoro takes the extraordinary situation in stride and agrees to keep the wallaby close, allowing her classmate's spirit to reside in her bedroom as he waits for the day he might be restored to a human body. That day, however, may be a long time coming. Observing Warabi's new circumstances, Rarirarurara reaches a telling conclusion: the boy seems genuinely happy right where he is. With no reason to rush his transformation back, the angel allows matters to rest—and so Warabi's life settles into an odd, gentle limbo, lived out as a cherished st￭ companion in the room of the girl who made him.
