Yell Girl!

For Yuyu, a wide-eyed first-year navigating the daunting halls of high school, the ouendan cheer squad is nothing short of a revelation. She is utterly transfixed by their roaring chants, the crisp precision of their movements, and the electrifying way they galvanize an entire stadium. Eager to trade her spectator status for a spot in the stands, she throws herself into the club application, convinced that the spirited brotherhood of the squad will give her the sense of purpose and belonging she craves. But the exhilarating dream of pom-poms and victory cries hits an immediate snag the moment she is assigned to her practice group. To her dismay, she discovers that she has been paired with a sullen classmate whose perpetually sour expression seems entirely at odds with the squad's vibrant ethos. While Yuyu arrives at every rehearsal buzzing with naive energy, he greets each routine with a brooding silence and an inexplicable irritability that threatens to throw off their entire dynamic. Forced into close quarters with this walking storm cloud, Yuyu is left completely baffled—what could possibly make him so perpetually moody? As she struggles to bridge the gap between her relentless optimism and his stubborn gloom, she realizes that winning over her partner might prove just as challenging as mastering the squad's most demanding routines.
