Years after parting ways at high school graduation, Takeda and Arita have drifted into separate lives with little more than shared memories to connect them. That quiet distance holds steady until a chance encounter on a rain-soaked evening changes everything—when the two unexpectedly take in a stray cat, the small act of sheltering something vulnerable together begins to unsettle the careful boundaries between them. What starts as a fleeting reunion deepens into something harder to name: a pull toward each other that defies easy definition, yet resists the gravity of conventional romance. Neither of them is in love, nor do they possess any practical reason to share a roof. There are no grand confessions or urgent obligations tying them together—only a persistent, unspoken desire to remain in each other's orbit. This ambiguous attachment leaves them adrift, caught between the comfort of proximity and the pressure to label what they are to one another. Faced with emotions that refuse to fit neatly into friendship, partnership, or family, they eventually arrive at a quiet, unconventional resolution that honors the strange bond growing between them. This slice-of-life narrative lingers in the spaces between definitions, following two people who choose to exist in a relationship that has no prescribed name. It is a gentle, introspective exploration of connection in its rawest form—an attempt to live authentically outside the frameworks society hands us, and to find peace in the undefined.
