The Amateur's Yearning Life

Yi Yi, a twenty-eight-year-old top-tier singer, abruptly retired from the entertainment industry with a spotless record. Unknown to the public, he is a transmigrator who was once a music superstar in his previous life, only to die from exhaustion on stage. Determined not to repeat his past mistakes, he debuted at twenty after completing his military service and spent eight years replicating classic hits from his former life. Having amassed sufficient wealth for retirement but suffering from severe health issues—including lumbar disc herniation, vocal cord nodules, and mild depression—he heeded his doctor’s warning that continuing at this pace would cost him his life before fifty. Without hesitation, he quit. Yi Yi returned to his hometown to enjoy a leisurely existence in a small villa by Shangguan Lake, spending his days fishing, cooking, and soaking up the sun. However, on the third day of his retirement, the production crew of the variety show "Back to Field" arrived at his doorstep. To make matters more complicated, his mother had rented out the villa three months prior without his knowledge. With the director eagerly proposing that Yi Yi stay on as the "amateur landlord," and host He Jiong finding the situation hilarious, Yi Yi reluctantly agreed. What began as a quiet retreat quickly transformed into a nationally watched slow-life variety show. As Yi Yi casually gifted each departing guest with classic scripts and songs from his previous life—works that had once dominated the market—the production team realized they were not hosting an ordinary amateur, but a walking goldmine.
