Servaine Noxirel was raised on her great-grandfather’s stories of their noble house’s former glory and the madness that plagued their bloodline. The most peculiar tale concerned his sickly young niece and the merman she kept as a possession, a creature of such captivating beauty that he was confined to a tank out of obsessive devotion. Though she bears an uncanny resemblance to that long-dead relative, Servaine has always dismissed these accounts as mere folklore. Her perspective shifts upon returning to the ancestral manor, where she encounters Mel, the very merman from the legends. Convinced that his beloved Servaine has finally returned for him, Mel emerges from seclusion, yet it remains unclear whether his enduring vigil was driven by love or a desire for vengeance.
