What's Our Hero Doing?

Hans knows every corner, every quest, and every fatal encounter in the hardcore game *Vantablack Ring*—he has cleared it more times than he can count. So when he awakens not as a mighty protagonist, but as an insignificant extra within its brutal reality, his survival instinct kicks in immediately. His foolproof plan is simple: latch onto Kadith, the destined hero, and let the main storyline shield him from the impending monster onslaught. But in a horrifying twist that shatters his meta-knowledge, Kadith falls in the very first skirmish, dead before the plot can even begin. Staggered by the impossible sight, Hans desperately scours the land for the remaining champion candidates, clinging to the hope that one of them can restore order. Instead, he finds only grim aftermath—one by one, each hero meets their untimely demise. Worse still, with every death, Hans experiences a strange, creeping power settling into his own being, as though he is unconsciously absorbing their legendary skills. His carefully laid plans to stay invisible and survive have utterly disintegrated. Now, with the world's strongest protectors gone and their abilities coalescing within him, Hans faces an unwelcome question: can a background character rewrite his own role, step into the light, and become the hero this doomed world desperately needs?
