Mizuno & Chayama

As the daughter of a mayoral candidate, Mizuno has grown up under the relentless glare of small-town expectations, where every misstep is magnified and privacy is a luxury she cannot afford. The constant scrutiny of her family’s political ambitions leaves her suffocating, desperate for a breath of air beyond the gossip and rigid social codes that define her existence. Meanwhile, Chayama, the heir to the prestigious Chayama-en tea empire, moves through life with a practiced poise that masks a deeper resignation. Bound by duty and burdened with the task of atoning for her family's undisclosed wrongs, she has resigned herself to the predetermined course laid out before her, no matter the personal cost. Yet within the quiet isolation of the school’s third-floor guidance counseling room, the weight of their names falls away. Sealed off from the bitter feud between their households and the rumor mill that fuels it, they find a fragile sanctuary where they are simply Mizuno and Chayama—two teenagers discovering solace in each other’s understanding. Their shared refuge offers not just escape, but a rare and precious hope that feels entirely their own. But the walls of that room cannot hold forever. As the forces outside grow bolder and more insistent, determined to pry them apart, Mizuno and Chayama are forced to confront an impossible choice. To preserve the bond that has become their anchor, they must summon the courage to resist not only their families and their town, but the very futures they were raised to inherit.
