At twenty, she was convinced her first summer would be something special. She had imagined moving to Seoul and finding romance with a sweet city gentleman—instead, reality found her working a part-time job serving shaved ice, accompanied by none other than her childhood friend from back home. That friend is Jang Je-Yeol, a young man with a shameless, self-assured swagger. Having grown up together like siblings, the two share a closeness so familiar that romance seems entirely out of the question—Jang Je-Yeol is, without a doubt, the last person she could ever picture herself dating. Yet something about the sweltering summer heat proves dangerous. In a moment of impulse, she finds herself kissing Jang Je-Yeol—and suddenly, the boy she has always taken for granted looks inexplicably, infuriatingly handsome. What unfolds is a flustered back-and-forth between two lifelong friends, as the untold story of that unforgettable summer finally comes to light.
