Ore ga Inai to Sugu ×× ru Hakanagi Kasumi

When spring ushers in his first year of high school, Takase Michiru makes a quiet resolution: he will coast through his school days without exerting himself. No ambitions, no complications, no drama—just an unremarkable, low-effort student life. For a boy content to drift along in the background, it seems like the perfect plan. That plan, however, is immediately thrown into disarray by the girl seated next to him. Hakanagi Kasumi is no ordinary classmate; she is the subject of countless suspicious rumors, and her appearance does little to dispel them. With an eyepatch over one eye and bandages wrapped around her, she looks every bit the fragile, troubled girl the whispers make her out to be. Determined to protect his peaceful, effort-free existence, Michiru does everything he can to keep her at arm's length. Yet fate has other ideas. An unexpected incident throws the two of them together, and from that moment on they find themselves bound in a relationship where each fills the gaps in the other—lending strength wherever the other falters. Beneath her delicate exterior lies a girl who, though frail, faces each day with earnest, wholehearted effort.
