Hana Monogatari

Hana Monogatari follows Hanayo, an elderly woman who has recently lost her husband of many years. After attending a Buddhist memorial service for him, she ventures into town alone for the first time in a long while. During this solitary outing, she wanders into a cosmetics shop and encounters Yoshiko Doujima, a beautiful woman with whom she falls in love at first sight. Hanayo had abandoned makeup years ago due to her husband’s persistent disapproval, but with Yoshiko’s gentle assistance, she rediscovers the joy of wearing it, finding that the experience brings a renewed brightness to her heart.
