The Rokudo Rounds

Deep beneath the surface, in a world where humanity fled underground to survive, En is an impoverished boy scraping out an existence in the slums. With nothing of his own, he gets by on the refuse of those more fortunate, sifting through the waste that the privileged discard without a second thought. Looming over his harsh world is the Battle of the Six Realms, a brutal contest in which every combatant must first undergo a costly body modification surgery. Machines grafted onto their bodies significantly enhance their strength, transforming the participants into powerful fighters—and the defeated are killed and cast aside. For En, even those discarded bodies hold value. Day after day, he combs the trash heaps in search of the decomposing corpses of the "losers," recovering the valuable modifications still attached to them and selling them off to survive. In this grim underground world, life is cheap—and En endures by turning death itself into his meager livelihood.
