Onna Tomodachi to Kekkon Shitemita.

What begins as a lighthearted promise between two close friends gradually transforms into a life-altering commitment. In a moment of playful candor, they vow to marry each other should they both remain single five years down the line—a pact spoken with laughter, yet carrying the weight of an unspoken trust. Time passes, careers unfold, and romantic prospects come and go, until the appointed deadline arrives with quiet finality. True to their word, the two women reunite and step into a legal union that feels equal parts familiar and foreign. As they settle into the rhythms of domesticity—shared meals, quiet evenings, and the gentle collision of their daily routines—they quickly discover that a friendship, no matter how deep, does not always seamlessly translate into matrimony. The ordinary intimacy of living together forces them to navigate unanticipated tensions and rediscover one another outside the context of casual hangouts. Yet beneath the awkwardness and growing pains lies a genuine affection that refuses to be neatly categorized. Their marriage becomes an ongoing exploration of what it truly means to choose someone—not out of burning passion or convenience, but out of a steadfast belief that partnership can be built on the solid ground of friendship, even as they question whether that foundation alone will be enough to sustain a lifetime together.
