Gǒu Yǔ Yú Zhī Zòu

The Hou brothers have left the abyssal depths of their ancestral dragon palace behind, trading the cold, lightless currents of the sea for the bustling streets of a land-bound city. What they find is a world teeming with noise, color, and ceaseless motion—far more vibrant than any coral throne or pearl-lined hall they once called home. Each morning brings unfamiliar scents and sounds, each evening offers new faces and fleeting adventures, and before long, the brothers find themselves swept into a rhythm of life that feels both exhilarating and strangely disorienting. They make friends among the locals, learn the unspoken rules of surface living, and begin to believe that this sprawling maze of alleys and plazas might just become their true home. Yet for all its charm, the city harbors secrets that linger just beyond the corner of the eye. The everyday scenery—street vendors, towering signs, crowded crosswalks—mirrors the ordinary world so closely that one might forget the extraordinary blood that runs in the brothers’ veins. But the ordinary is never quite safe here. Whispers drift through the marketplaces, rumors of a beast that prowls the outer districts, a creature that defies explanation even in a place where dragons walk in human guise. The Hou brothers sense that their new life, however fulfilling, is only a prelude to something far older and more dangerous—and that the city’s warmth may yet give way to the chill of a predator’s gaze, waiting for them around the very next turn.
