The Otherworldly Family Man

Ju-Hwan Kim has spent years navigating a hollow existence, the early loss of his parents having left him resigned to a lifetime of isolation. Comfortable in his solitude yet quietly yearning for connection, he has long abandoned hope for the warmth of a family—until a strange, disheveled man dressed as Santa appears before him on a snowy Christmas Eve. This enigmatic figure takes Ju-Hwan's wistful wish for kinship and transforms it into reality, tearing him from his ordinary world and casting him into a foreign, perilous realm. In this strange new land, Ju-Hwan stumbles upon an unlikely sanctuary in the home of Lizzie, a widow still reeling from past tragedies, and her fragile young stepdaughter. Bound by circumstance rather than blood, the three form a tentative, fractured household that Ju-Hwan is fiercely determined to protect. Yet the world around them offers no mercy; it is a brutal place where monsters roam and desperate souls vie for scarce resources. To keep his new family safe, Ju-Hwan must rapidly evolve beyond the man he once was. He must brave the wilds to hunt, grapple with and master the mysterious magical powers awakening inside him, and navigate a society where even a simple act of goodwill can become a dangerous liability. With every challenge, he learns that in this otherworld, the cost of protecting those you love is measured in blood and resilience.
