Wen Ruoling had always clung to the faint hope that her mother might one day reconcile with her other mommy. But she was jolted awake one morning to the staggering news that her mother had, on a whim, married another woman. Determined to uncover the truth, Wen Ruoling began secretly investigating her new "stepmother," Shu Wanxing—a woman barely a few years older than her, young, striking, and undeniably alluring, yet shrouded in an air of mystery and a murky past. Wen Ruoling moved into her mother’s villa, resolved to expose Shu Wanxing’s real motives for the marriage and tear the couple apart. Yet, as day after day passed in close quarters with Shu Wanxing, she found herself slowly but inexorably developing unexpected feelings for the very woman she had sworn to drive away.
