In the Middle Edo Period, the Unabara State, notorious as the "Haunt of Demons," has become a haven for ruthless martial artists who live by the principle of power and chaos. The state's ruler, Washitzu Naosata, seeks a worthy successor and tasks his 31 sons with finding the strongest martial artist in the land. Each son must choose a fighter to represent them in a series of battles, with the last one standing earning their son the right to s쳮d Naosata. Among the potential contenders is Kurogane Gama, the son of the legendary swordsman Kurogane Jinsuke, who is said to be capable of defeating 1,000 martial artists. After discovering Gama's impressive battle skills at the Daigame Ryuu dojo, one of Naosata's sons, Washitzu Naoshi, recruits him to participate in the tournament, marking the beginning of Gama's journey to become the strongest martial artist of all.
