Queen's Game

Queen's Game is a collection of short stories that explores love, attraction, and the tangled emotions between young women. Rather than following a single continuous plot, the volume gathers ten chapters, each presenting a self-contained tale with its own heroine, setting, and tone. The book opens with "Transformation Girl," followed by "The Wealthy Young Lady" (Fugou no Ojou-sama), a story centered on the daughter of a rich family. The two-part "The Convenient Girlfriend" (Tsugou no Ii Kanojo) portrays a relationship in which one girl is all too readily available to her partner, while "Ran Madoi's Abnormal Love" (Madoi Ran no Ijou na Aijou) follows the intense and unusual affection of a girl named Ran Madoi. Next comes "Ticket to Lead" and "Summertime Bus Stop" (Natsu no Bus Tei), set at a bus stop in the heat of summer. The anthology closes with the two-part "Itadaki! Student Guidance" (Itadaki! Seito Shidou, lit. "Receiving! Guidance Counseling"), a tale revolving around school discipline counseling, and "My Workplace" (Uchi no Shigotoba), a story taking place at the narrator's own place of work. Together, these stories offer a varied look at romance in its many forms — sweet, awkward, and obsessive alike.
